DDB Promotes Diversity

Jennifer Novak, the Global Head of Creative Recruiting for DDB Worldwide, visited Portfolio Studio in April. She shared info about the DDB Diversity Scholarship Program (which would fund most of Portfolio Studio's programs) and the goals to bring students of different backgrounds into the advertising field. Plus, she conducted portfolio reviews and presented the opportunities that come with working in a global network, like DDB.

The Student Takeaway?

Jennifer stressed the importance of having an incredible portfolio to get in the door. Beyond that, she explained the importance of being flexible about which cities you’re willing to work in and about getting a good sense of who you’ll be working for/with before you take a job.
For me, that was one of her most powerful points: that it is not always the city you work in or the name of the agency that matters most, but rather the working relationships you have, and how essential a positive culture is for doing good work.
Overall, I got the sense that DDB is a place where this positive culture thrives. It’s pretty amazing that Jennifer is a connection for Portfolio Studio students, and I hope to see her again next year.
